Monday, February 15, 5:30-6:30 pm: Melanated on the Mat
The first half of this class will be a conversation centering on allyship n the mat. Yoga teachers Chelsea Gardner and Cierra McEachern will lead a discussion around creating more inclusive and welcoming yoga spaces. We’ll
practice a gently flowing asana and meditation together with Lexie Wolf following the discussion.
Friday, February 19, 6-7 pm: Cool, Calm & Collected
Join us to experience yogic practices that can help create a calm and present space in our hearts and minds. We’ll briefly discuss the benefits & basics, then practice intention setting & affirmations, breathwork, asana practice (the physical postures of yoga) and meditation. Cierra, Chelsea, and Lexie lead. We’ll enjoy a peaceful and meditative Friday evening and leave with self-care techniques for our daily lives.
Sunday, February 28, 7-8:15 pm: Relax, Relate & Release
This is a restorative yoga class themed around healing and unity to wrap up our Black History Month series. We’ll begin with a short talk about the conversations we’ve had and some takeaways from this series. We’ll finish by going deeply inward for a peaceful restorative practice. Have pillows & blankets ready. Restorative yoga involves placing the body in very comfortable, supportive postures that will allow for gentle relaxation and releasing of tension in the body. Cierra and Chelsea lead the discussion, Jessica Palmer-Gwaltney leads our restorative yoga practice.
