Tiger Day Fun Run Registration

Join Carolina Tiger Rescue in its 2nd Annual Tiger Day 5K fun run, with all proceeds benefiting the amazing animals who call the sanctuary home! Register yourself or your team, then walk, run, or ride a 5K, by yourself or with friends, anytime between July 22nd and July 29th. We’ll wrap up with a virtual celebration on July 29th for International Tiger Day! Your $35 registration fee benefits all of the cats at the sanctuary AND includes a Tiger Day 5K commemorative t-shirt!

Let’s Go Local Burger Challenge!

Exactly how local can your NC burger get? Chatham Marketplace is partnering with Firsthand Foods for the Let’s Go Local Burger Challenge - and it has started! You have until July 3rd to build your local burger, and on the Fourth of July two people will win $150 in local prizes! Here’s how to enter: ? Build your local burger at home using ALL North Carolina ingredients, starting with a base of Firsthand Foods ground beef. ? Grab your local ingredients right here at Chatham Marketplace. ? Post a picture of your local burger (or of you eating it!). CORE Juneteeth!

Chatham Organizing for Racial Equity - CORE will host its 4th annual Chatham County Juneteenth celebration on Saturday, June 19 from 10AM to 2PM at the Pittsboro Fair Grounds (191 Fairgrounds Rd, Pittsboro). This year’s celebration will include food, children’s activities, entertainment and a black business expo. There will also be an on-site COVID-19 vaccination clinic provided by UNC Health. Chatham 250: Chatham County History of Communities of Color #3

Growth and Change Event (Series): Chatham County History of Communities of Color May 28, June 11 and June 19, 2021 Sponsored by Deep River Chapter Pittsboro, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) The public is invited to join the Chatham Community Library for a three-part virtual lecture series chronicling the history of communities of color in Chatham County. The series will conclude with a much-anticipated lecture titled “From Slavery to Freedom: A History of African Americans in Chatham County” on Saturday, June 19th from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. This lecture, by Charles Johnson, Associate Professor and Director of Public History at North Carolina Central University, is also part of Juneteenth Celebrations in Chatham County. All lectures will occur virtually, and pre-registration is required to access the login information.
