Town of Pittsboro Announces Fourth Offering of PBO-101 Academy; Registration Open Until October 18th Pittsboro, NC - The Town of Pittsboro is proud to announce the next offering of our Citizen's Academy, known as "PBO 101." PBO 101 is a six-week course designed to offer participants an educational and interactive learning experience on the workings of the Town government. The course, previously seven weeks in duration, has been condensed and reworked as we no longer have a session focused on water and wastewater utilities. The curriculum will cover current Town programs, services, and procedures and offer an in-depth look at several Town departments, including Administration/Finance, Police, Planning/Downtown, Parks and Recreation, Engineering, Public Works, Communications & Emergency Management, and the Governing Board. To ensure that participants have the chance to discuss and communicate with Town staff and leaders and participate in the practical exercises, the class size is limited to 12 participants. Senior Town staff will lead each session at the Town Offices at Main Street Station (287 East St) from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The final session will consist of dinner and conversation in small groups with the Town's Commissioners. The time and location of the final session will be communicated to participants during the academy. Requirements to Participate Participants must be 18 years of age, or older, on or before the first day of classes, Participants must complete the written application/registration form and submit the completed document to the Town, and Participants must sign a waiver of liability on or before the first day of class. Beginning Mead Making Class at Starrlight Mead
Starrlight Mead 130 Lorax Lane, PittsboroBasic home mead making class. Learn about how to make a small batch of mead, the equipment needed, and the techniques for ensuring success. Each participant will take home a one-gallon batch of mead to finish at home. Attendees will learn the basics of mead making. You will be taken step by step through the process of making a “cyser” (honey and apple). You will learn how to properly sanitize and what equipment is needed to make a great homemade mead! You will take home your own gallon of mead, made during the class, with instructions on what to do with it when you get home. No mead making experience necessary.
PUMC Church at the Lake
Please confirm event times before leaving home. PUMC's Church at the Lake event will be held on Saturday, October 12th at Parker's Creek Shelter #4 next to the beach access. If you would like to reserve a campsite for the weekend please visit the Jordan Lake website. Times for a Saturday gathering will be announced shortly. Sunday services will be held as normal in the FLC-9am and Sanctuary-11am. We look forward to seeing you for a fun weekend of fellowship, fun, fishing and sharing time as a church family together at Jordan Lake. More details to come.
