Liquidambar Featured Artists Reception
Liquidambar Gallery & Gifts 80 Hillsboro St, Pittsboro, NC, United StatesPlease join us for a Featured Artist's Reception Sunday, March 4, 2-4pm. Karen Havighurst's work as a graphic designer has led her to watercolor and collage. She tints her own rice and tissue papers, occasionally with a gesso ground for use in her collages, and often include found papers and foils. Her work is semi-abstract, often inspired by nature, with an emphasis on good design, interesting textures, and unusual color combinations. Bob Meier is a clay artist who primarily focuses on function work. All of his pieces are dishwasher, microwave, and oven safe. They are perfect for everyday use. He uses multiple glazing techniques to achieve his wonderful designs. Also, we have the talented Alice Osborn to entertain us during the reception! Karen Havighurst & Bob Meier are the featured artists at Liquidambar in March. Music by Alice Osborn.

Liquidambar Gallery & Gifts 80 Hillsboro St, Pittsboro, NC, United StatesKaren Havidghurst is an amazing collage and watercolor artist. She uses paper, gesso, and watercolors to build up the pieces creating depth and texture. Her attention to design makes her pieces unique and full of movement. Michael Gallagher can take scraps of wood and turn them into fine pieces of furniture. His pieces are functional, but also beautiful. His work has a sort of playfulness, but also elegant. We hope to see you at the reception!

Liquidambar Gallery & Gifts 80 Hillsboro St, Pittsboro, NC, United StatesThis Sunday, October 7, there will be a reception from 2:00-4:00 pm for our Featured Artists, Judith Maier and Nancy Martin. Everyone is invited!!! Judith writes: As a young child I grew up in Brooklyn. My family frequently visited my Grandmother Rosie who lived in a tiny ivy covered cottage in Brighton Beach, just blocks away from Coney Island. There I explored the ocean, the boardwalk, amusement park rides and Friday night fireworks. It was a magical. The cornucopia of colors, faces, music, and exhilarating rides fascinated me. Along with my love of fairytales, puppet shows, the ballet and circuses these experiences stirred my imagination and inspired my sculptural work today. For me, my figures have a life of their own and making them gives me great joy. I want to share this with the viewer and spark their imagination, enabling them to have a personal, enchanted relationship with these companions. Judith Maier, "Masked," on display at Liquidambar in October. The Ossartem show, Nancy’s Latin neologism for “Bone Art,” features skulls and skeletons depicted in prismacolor marker and acrylic paints on bristol board and canvas. Each piece was sketched, inked, hand-cut,re-inked, and mounted onto a painted canvas. The pieces show a dedication to the accuracy of anatomical illustration but with an artistic flair. Each skull or skeleton was drawn referencing a corporeal specimen. Both artists will be here to answer any questions you may have about their art. Please, come out and say hello. I am pleased to announce that we will have Diane Winger playing guitar and vocals during the reception.

Everyone is invited!!! Leslie Palmer: I have been drawing since I was a small child. I thought there was magic in being able to make something appear on paper. I'm not sure if it was that sense of power, the joy of creation or the quiet contentment I felt while drawing... but whatever it was, I dearly loved my pencils.
