We're extending the celebration of Independence Day into the weekend with our "famous" Red, White, and Blueberry Sangria! You can come in for a glass or make some at home! Summertime Seafood Festival
Summertime Seafood Festival
Join us in downtown Pittsboro for the Summertime Seafood Festival, hosted by The Sycamore. Celebrate summer and seafood with delicious food, refreshing drinks, and live music by The Castaways. The event will be held on the back lawn, and inside of Forest Hall at Chatham Mills. Get your advance tickets for $10 or purchase at the door for $15 (if not sold out). We will have a variety of chef-prepared, mouthwatering seafood (and non-seafood) options available for purchase, including Maine-style Lobster Rolls, Oysters on the half shell, Crabcake Sandwiches, Chilled Lobster Salad, Lemonade Shrimp and Carolina Style BBQ Spare Ribs. Sides like Plantain Chips with Pico, Grilled Shishito Peppers, Hushpuppies, and Corn on the Cob will round out your meal. Quench your thirst with beer, wine, and summery cocktails -like mojitos and watermelon margaritas- from the cash bar. Children under 12 enter for free, but please leave your furry friends at home. Doors open at 2pm, with music by The Castaways starting at 3pm. Lawn games and activities will be available for added enjoyment. Seating will be provided inside and out, but folding chairs and blankets are also welcome. Space is limited, so secure your advance tickets today. PITTSBORO FRIENDS: The NC Conservation Network is hosting a screening of @wral's 20-minute documentary, Forever Chemicals: North Carolina's Toxic Tap Water at Starrlight Mead on Weds, July 31, 6pm. The documentary explores the damage caused by massive amounts of toxic chemicals called forever chemicals (or PFAS) being dumped into the Cape Fear River for decades. Following the screening, we will hear from Haw Riverkeeper, Emily Sutton Haw River Assembly), about how forever chemicals impact communities in our state. We’ll also have some immediate actions you can take to help us stop forever chemical pollution.

For the occasion, we’ve got some fun things in store for you! Mead making demo at 3 pm. Join Ben to see how to make a small batch of mead at home. (And consider signing up for our Beginning Mead Making Class!) Tours of the meadery at 2 and 4 pm. See how it’s done on a bigger scale. And sample some local NC meads from HoneyGirl Meadery in Durham. Their new location isn’t quite ready, so they are popping up here to help celebrate!
