Let's not lose sight of the young adults that have had so much taken from them due to COVID-19. Come together to make our High School Seniors feel important. We can become their extended family. Post your Seniors so that we can help give the Class of 2021 a big boost! Members of this Group: pick a Senior, pick two, pick three, reach out to them in any way possible to celebrate with them in their accomplishments. MLK Day Community Yoga Class
Yoga Garden 184 East Street, Pittsboro , NC, United StatesTo commemorate the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., we are excited to share a multi-offering zoom class on Monday, January 18, 2021. 100% of proceeds will go to SABA - more information below. The class includes a guided Loving Kindness meditation (Lexie), Dharma talk (Cierra) and a gentle flow yoga practice (Chelsea). In an effort to center the great legacy of Dr. King, we'll be holding space for community during this class and offering donations to the new Chatham County school, School of Arts for Boys Academy (SABA), which endeavors to empower and build underrepresented minority boys to be strong, creative academic scholars, critical thinkers and community leaders through a culturally responsive arts-based education. “At Your Side” Applications Open
Main Street America and Brother International are working together to support small businesses and amplify the importance these enterprises play in communities across the country. The collaboration will shine a light on inspiring entrepreneurs and provide critical resources and marketing support to small businesses in need. As part of this initiative, we’ve teamed up to launch the “At Your Side” Small Business Grant Program to provide a total of $75,000 to Main Street small businesses in need. The program will support brick-and-mortar small businesses in designated Main Street districts as they work to adapt to COVID-19 and prepare for the next phases of reopening across the country, while also helping to revitalize and strengthen older and historic commercial corridors. Grants of $5,000 to $10,000 will be awarded on a competitive basis. Applications will open at 12pm EST/ 11am CST on Thursday, January 21 and continue to be accepted through Thursday, January 28 at 7:59pm EST/ 6:59pm CST. See Program Terms and Conditions here.

Carolina Tiger Summer Camp Registration
Carolina Tiger Rescue 1940 Hanks Chapel Road, Pittsboro, NCRegistration opens February 3, 2021. Campers will experience the incredible world of the sanctuary. They will visit the animals daily, learn about the essential role carnivores play in their natural habitats, find out what it takes to be a wildcat veterinarian, practice wildlife biology skills, and help some of the tigers express their creativity through painting! Each week of camp is limited to 12 campers. Please note, all campers will be required to wear masks during camp and social distancing will be observed to keep everyone safe. What is it? An introduction to the exercise equipment and a chance to learn the exercise recommendations from the American College of Sports Medicine. What to bring? Black Yogi Collective Discussion and Asanas
Black Yogi Collective discussion groups (times shown in the image are incorrect; the discussion is 5-6 pm.) This is a free class for black yogis by black yogis. The first class in our Black History Month series, Black Yogi Collective provides a safe space to practice & share for Black/BIPOC yogis. Yoga teachers Chelsea Gardner and Cierra McEachern will lead a discussion followed by a beginner-friendly asana practice. Yoga teachers Chelsea Gardner and Cierra McEachern will lead a discussion around creating more inclusive and welcoming yoga spaces. We'll practice a gently flowing asana and meditation together with Lexie Wolf following the discussion. Friday, February 19, 6-7 pm: Cool, Calm & Collected Join us to experience yogic practices that can help create a calm and present space in our hearts and minds. We'll briefly discuss the benefits & basics, then practice intention setting & affirmations, breathwork, asana practice (the physical postures of yoga) and meditation. Cierra, Chelsea, and Lexie lead. We'll enjoy a peaceful and meditative Friday evening and leave with self-care techniques for our daily lives. Sunday, February 28, 7-8:15 pm: Relax, Relate & Release This is a restorative yoga class themed around healing and unity to wrap up our Black History Month series. We'll begin with a short talk about the conversations we've had and some takeaways from this series. We'll finish by going deeply inward for a peaceful restorative practice. Have pillows & blankets ready. Restorative yoga involves placing the body in very comfortable, supportive postures that will allow for gentle relaxation and releasing of tension in the body. Cierra and Chelsea lead the discussion, Jessica Palmer-Gwaltney leads our restorative yoga practice.
