Zoom MeetingOur speaker will be Chris Kennedy, Pittboro's new town manager! After: Chris talked about his professional background and current goals for the future of Pittsboro. He wants to continue to develop Pittsboro's "sense of place." Challenges that have his immediate attention are getting the systems running smoothly again. We have some people working as interim leaders and some open positions. Our sewer capacity needs to be improved. The team is working with the DOT about the traffic circle improvements. Protecting and developing the downtown area is important. Chris is working with the planning department on completing the UDO and making progress on the new Town Hall.

Tickets are limited to 100 high-end baskets with mason jars full of carefully curated pepper-themed dishes. Dishes you can enjoy picnic style or long after the event is over. There will be social distance precautions. We are looking forward to a scaled down celebration of our cherished locally grown sweet, hot and smoky NC peppers. Due to Covid-19, we created this picnic style event so that it can be packed up or To-Go in the case of a statewide close down. The Farmers’ Market, being labeled essential, would still happen keeping with the current Covid-19 regulations at the time of the event. Historically this event has been very WHITE. We are working on changing that forever by diversifying our events. We have invited more black farmers to participate in the farmers’ market part of PepperFest and always welcome everyone who can join us in making this the best PepperFest yet to come! !! We’ll have LIVE music by CERTAIN SEAS and SANKOFA: West African Drumming, lots of outdoor space for people to bring a blanket or chairs and pick up their basket of delicious pepper dishes, shop at the farmers’ market, hang out safely and distantly. Partake in all the small businesses on The Plant, including the Chatham Beverage District’s distillery, cidery, meadery and local beers, Copeland Spring Farms and Kitchen, Chatham Axes, Carolina Hemp Tours, Hempsmith, Oak City Hemp, Tick Warriors, Vortex Brew, Smelt Art Gallery and bmc brewing COMING SOON!
