Bill Adair, Pulitzer Prize winner, journalism professor, and founder of PolitiFact, presents an eye-opening and engaging history of political liars and a vision for how to make them stop. A signing line will follow the talk. Bill Adair is an award-winning journalist and educator. He is the creator of PolitiFact and cofounder of the International Fact-Checking Network. In 2013, he became the Knight Professor of the Practice of Journalism and Public Policy at Duke University. His awards include the Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting (with the PolitiFact staff), the Manship Prize for New Media in Democratic Discourse, and the Everett Dirksen Award for Distinguished Coverage of Congress. Frank Bruni has been a prominent journalist for more than three decades, including more than twenty-five years at The New York Times, in roles as diverse as op-ed columnist, White House correspondent, Rome bureau chief, and chief restaurant critic. He is the author of four New York Times bestsellers. In July 2021, he became a full professor at Duke University, teaching in the school of public policy. He currently writes his popular weekly newsletter for the Times and produces additional essays as one of the newspaper’s Contributing Opinion Writers.

Come celebrate fall with your friends at Flyleaf Books! It's an all-day puzzle/toy/game swap, with extra fall flair. Bring in gently used puzzles, toys, or games to swap out for others in similar condition any time on October 26, 2024. You're welcome to drop items off early the night before (Friday, October 25), but no sooner please. Huckleberry Trail Farm will be hosting it OPEN FIELD TRIP DAY to celebrate the last day of the season! For one day only, from 9 am to 3 pm, Huck is offering our special field trip admission for everyone: $10.00. You will have full access to the farm which includes the corn maze, the pumpkin patch, a farmyard full of old timey fun and games, cotton picking, and more. (Sorry, no hayride on this day). We also have a picnic area where you can eat your lunch in the shade of our trees. Cool drinks and snacks will be available for sale. Special activities on Educational Day include: BECKY AND TOM’S SCAVENGER HUNT The kids will not only have a lot of fun finding things on the farm, but they will learn about farm stuff, too. All groups who complete the hunt get a special prize.
