PBA Members Meeting

Pittsboro Roadhouse 39 West St., Pittsboro, NC, United States

Wednesday's speaker is: Jeff Jones, Pittsboro's Planning Director, who will talk about plans for bicycle and pedestrian transportation. Jeff presented the Pittsboro Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan. Highlights: There are no cliff notes for the plan. You need to go on-line and skim it to find the parts that will affect you. And the changes the plan envisions WILL affect how your customers will drive to parking and then walk to your business. The changes in the plan will affect how your customers/visitors will be able to bike to your location. You need to review the part of the plan that will affect your business location and, if you live in the greater Pittsboro metropolitan area, how the plan will affect where you live. Your comments (and you should have some) can be sent to: Jeff Jones at jjones@pittsboronc.gov. Jeff talked about sidewalks at various locations around town and the widening of Hillsboro and the changes in the circle. Jeff did a great job! The Changing Language of Chatham County

Historic Chatham County Courthouse 9 Hillsboro St., Pittsboro, NC, United States

Come find out what the team from the Language and Life Project at NC State has learned so far from their interviews with your Chatham County friends and neighbors! In the summer of 2019, the Language and Life Project (LLP), in cooperation with the Chatham County Historical Association started conducting interviews to study and archive changing language and life in Chatham County. The project team has now completed more than 40 interviews with speakers ranging from to 16 to 100 years of age, and plan to complete more than 100 interviews over the next year. While the main goal of the NC State team is to study the changing language of life-long county residents, the project will also save the stories of those residents about life in Chatham County—providing a rich historical resource for the future. At the February 23rd program, the LLP team, under the direction of Walt Wolfram, will discuss the progress of the Chatham project so far, offer some samples, and discuss possible ways that the oral histories and other products in this cooperative effort might be shared. We are fortunate that the Language and Life Project chose Chatham for this intensive study. The 100+ interviews of Chatham residents of all ages and backgrounds will not only preserve Chatham’s unique language traditions but also will provide a window into the lives of long-time residents. The CCHA invites everyone to the program on Sunday, February 23 at 2:00pm in the Historic Chatham County Courthouse. We think you’ll be interested in this sneak-peek at the project’s progress. You might even decide to sign up to take part!

Sacred Sound with Garth at Yoga Garden

Yoga Garden 184 East Street, Pittsboro , NC, United States

Every object has a natural vibratory rate; it's resonance. One of the principles of using frequency as a transformative and healing modality is to understand that the body is in a constant state of vibration. Every organ, every bone, every tissue, every system--all are in a state of vibration. When we are in a state of health, the body projects an overall harmonic of health. External frequencies along with intention can be used to support and return both body and spirit to optimal health. Join Garth in traversing and transcending these corporeal bodies with ancient sounds from around the globe including guitar, overtone singing, chimes, Tibetan Bowls, flute, gong, frame drum, shruti box, tuning forks and didgeridoo. Please arrive around 4:45pm to get settled in for the 5pm start time. There are some mats and supports available at Yoga Garden, but please feel free to bring whatever you need to be comfortable on the ground for over an hour. If there is anything specific you'd like support with during the session, please let Garth know before the session begins.
