This is an open invitation for our local community of women to co-create and in union hold sacred space for one another as we are called into a time of cultural shifts that empower and bravely bare the soft belly of the divine feminine. We'll toast Kam afterwards and wish her well on the next phase of her life journey, a move to the mountains! We are meeting monthly at Yoga Garden PBO. Our time together includes movement, chanting, meditation, yoga nidra, music, readings, and sharing our voices with one another in the spirit of confidential, safe communication and support. The format for future gatherings continues to take shape based on our collective needs and desires. All are welcome to participate in any way that feels right. Our structure will be fluid, nourishing and supportive for all who are feeling the call to align with the power of the goddess within all women. All women are welcome to this safe and healing space. The place is the small Mississippi town of Brookhaven, the time a few days before the Fourth of July. Carnelle Scott (known locally as Miss Hot Tamale) is rehearsing furiously for the Miss Firecracker Contest...hoping that a victory will salvage her tarnished reputation and allow her to leave town in a blaze of glory. The unexpected arrival of her cousin Elain, a former Miss Firecracker winner, who has walked out on her rich but boring husband and her two small children, complicates matters a bit, as does the repeated threat of Elains eccentric brother, Delmount, recently released from a mental institution, to sell the family homestead and decamp for New Orleans. But, aided by a touchingly awkward seamstress named Popeye, who is hopelessly smitten by Delmount, and several other cheerfully nutty characters, Carnelle perseveres ...leading to a denouement of unparalleled hilarity, compassion and moving lyricism as all concerned finally escape their unhappy pasts and turn hopefully toward what must surely be a better future.

A songwriter based in North Carolina, Django Haskins has fronted the pop-noir band, The Old Ceremony and also forms one half of the psych-folk duo Au Pair with the Jayhawks' Gary Louris. SHADOWLAWN is his first solo record in 17 years. It began as a series of experimental recordings in his newly built studio, and eventually evolved into a kind of late-summer song cycle full of meditations on death, love, fear, wanderlust, and exploration of interior worlds. In 2016 he received the NC Arts Council's Artist Grant in recognition of his extensive creative exertions. In recognition of these aspects of the good life we enjoy here, Main Street Pittsboro will present our "Local on Main: PBO's Farm & Art Dinner". Join friends and neighbors at a table in the center of Hillsboro Street to discover, acknowledge, and honor the skills of local chefs, farmers, and artists in this fundraiser to help us continue our mission of revitalizing our historic downtown district. We are excited to announce that CORA's Hunger 5K and Fun Run will be on Saturday, June 15th at Central Carolina Community College. We invite you to participate in this great event that is a lot of fun, but also an important fundraiser. The Hunger 5K and Fun Run will raise much-needed money to address food insecurity right here in Chatham County. This year CORA will provide nearly 975,350 meals to 12,700 people and we need your help! Speed walk, casually stroll, jog, or take a thrilling chip-timed run. Whichever one you choose, you will know that you are helping hungry neighbors get the food they need when you participate. Pre-registration required.
