CORA Hunger 5K and Fun Walk
Central Carolina Community College 764 West St., Pittsboro, NC, United StatesWe are excited to announce that CORA's Hunger 5K and Fun Run will be on Saturday, June 15th at Central Carolina Community College. We invite you to participate in this great event that is a lot of fun, but also an important fundraiser. The Hunger 5K and Fun Run will raise much-needed money to address food insecurity right here in Chatham County. This year CORA will provide nearly 975,350 meals to 12,700 people and we need your help! Speed walk, casually stroll, jog, or take a thrilling chip-timed run. Whichever one you choose, you will know that you are helping hungry neighbors get the food they need when you participate. Pre-registration required.

Deep River Mercantile's Second Anniversary is June 15, 2019. Can y’all believe it’s time for our 2nd Anniversary?!? Join us Saturday June, 15th for a fun day celebrating the Mercantile! Come out for a delicious BBQ Lunch from 11:00-3:00 and ALL DONATIONS will go towards the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation! Each meal will include some delicious bbq, rolls for those who love a good bbq sandwich, chips from Carolina Kettle, and a drink! 8th Annual Harvest Abundance Dinner

Harvest Abundance will be at Forest Hall and hosted by Pickle Jar Cafe, a local farm-to-table restaurant that is one of our neighbors at the Chatham Mills building in Pittsboro. All of the farmers from the Chatham Mills Farmers’ Market will be supplying fresh produce for the dinner, so it will be an excellent opportunity for fans of local food and agriculture to gather together and enjoy the bounty of summer, fresh from the farm and prepared by chef Mario Robledo and the talented team at Pickle Jar Cafe.

National Mead Day

And we’re celebrating too! For the occasion, we’ve got some fun things in store for you! - The release of our very first “session mead”. A lower alcohol, very drinkable mead on tap by the glass. Our first one is a (currently unnamed) lime and ginger “Mule”. We’ve got ideas for some other flavors yet to come too! Come out and try it! - Mead making demo at 4 pm. Join Ben to see how to make a small batch of mead at home. (And consider signing up for our Beginning Mead Making Class on Oct 19th!) - Tours of the meadery at 1, 3 and 5 pm. See how it’s done on a bigger scale. - And sample some local NC meads from other mead makers! We’re sharing the love with our NC neighbors and featuring some of their yummy meads too! Come out and join us for a great day all about our favorite drink! This family-friendly event has live music, food trucks and dozens of vendors selling art, jewelry, textiles, woodwork, soaps, pottery and more. There is a designated play area for children in the parking lot across from Pittsboro Roadhouse. Many businesses host their own sales and events.
