Concert for the Tigers at the Roadhouse
Pittsboro Roadhouse 39 West St., Pittsboro, NC, United StatesCarolina Tiger Rescue will cap off its month-long celebration of International Tiger Day with a concert hosted by The Pittsboro Roadhouse & General Store on July 29 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Throughout July, Carolina Tiger has been raising awareness about International Tiger Day with a variety of activities, including educational messages on its website and on social media, limited edition T-shirts, a silent auction and a 50/50 raffle. “It’s an opportunity to educate the community about what’s happening to tigers in the wild,” Carolina Tiger Executive Director Pam Fulk said of International Tiger Day. “It’s an opportunity to get the community engaged in saving animals. Pittsboro Roadhouse was kind enough to conduct an event for us to help raise funds for our educational programs.” Pittsboro Roadhouse will donate 10 percent of its July 29 sales to Carolina Tiger. Local bands Tea Cup Gin, Whiskey Honey and TammyGun Band will highlight the occasion. Tickets are on sale now for $20, and they will be $25 at the door. Both concert and raffle tickets can be purchased at Carolina Tiger’s office in Pittsboro or online at 501auctions.com/TigerDay2017. Starrlight Mead will also donate $2 to Carolina Tiger for each mead tasting in July. The silent auction and 50/50 raffle will close the night of the concert at 11 p.m., when the raffle winner will be drawn. Auction winners will be notified on July 31. International Tiger Day was first celebrated in 2010 upon the alarming news that 97 percent of wild tigers had disappeared over the last century. There are approximately 3,800 tigers remaining in the wild. Carolina Tiger works toward saving them by offering educational tours, field trips, group presentations and internships. Carolina Tiger also partners with WildTrack, a North Carolina-based organization that uses paw prints to determine the population […]

Artists’ Reception at Liquidambar
Liquidambar Gallery & Gifts 80 Hillsboro St, Pittsboro, NC, United StatesPlease join us for a Featured Artist's Reception Sunday, September 3, 2-4pm. Carol Kroll creates one-of-a-kind contemporary mixed media sculpture & fine craft. She says, "Living close to nature, I find inspiration all around me. I am intrigued by natures’ recurrent fractal patterns; the repetition of color, texture and form recurring throughout nature from the micro to the macro. I see this as a reflection of our inherent interconnection with all of life. My work celebrates the beauty and wonder of natures’ design and honors her resilience as well as her fragility." Every year I schedule myself (Kitty Mecham) to be a "Featured Artist". By doing this it makes me produce a body of work. It also forces me to get into my studio where I love to be when I am not running the gallery. This show is all "Portraits", but most are just images from my head. These pieces are more about what the person stands for, is trying to convey, or just an attitude, and not who is the person is. Also, we have the lovely Alice Osborne to entertain us during the reception!
