Diane Kelly: Meet & Greet at Flyleaf Books
Diane Kelly: Meet & Greet at Flyleaf Books
Four-Alarm Homicide The sixth in the delightful cozy mystery series from Diane Kelly set in Nashville, TN—where the real estate market is to die for. Carpenter Whitney Whitaker and her cousin Buck are hot for a historical property that has just come on the market—a fire station in Nashville’s Germantown neighborhood that was built nearly a century ago. The cousins have just begun the interior demolition work at the fire station when Joanna Hartzell, who lives in a townhouse around the corner, comes by with a plea for help. Joanna owns the right half of her building, which she proudly maintains in perfect condition, while the left side falls into disrepair: the seven adult children who inherited it years ago refuse to lift a finger on repairs. Never one to turn down a challenge, Whitney and Buck manage to acquire the rundown townhouse—though it turns out Joanna is only one of the many neighbors interested in buying the property once they’ve worked their magic. Then Joanna shows up at the fire station confused and rambling, then collapses, never to recover. Alarm bells go off for Whitney: she suspects something—and someone—evil could be the real cause. Can she and Collin put the clues together and smoke out a killer? Diane Kelly: A former tax advisor and assistant state attorney general, Diane Kelly is no stranger to white-collar crime. When she realized her experiences made great fodder for novels, her fingers hit the keyboard and thus began her award-winning Death and Taxes romantic mystery series. A dog lover and Citizens Police Academy graduate, Diane also writes the hilarious K-9 cop Paw Enforcement series. Her love of vintage homes and renovation shows were a natural segue into her House Flipper mysteries, which feature a fabulous clue-finding feline. Diane’s other series include the Busted […]

Jasper Fforde presents RED SIDE STORY at Flyleaf Books
Jasper Fforde presents RED SIDE STORY at Flyleaf Books
The long-awaited follow-up to the New York Times bestselling Shades of Grey—in an EXCLUSIVE EDITION for North American readers, complete with a never-before-published short story Welcome to Chromatacia, where the societal hierarchy is strictly regulated by one's limited color perception. Civilization has been rebuilt after an unspoken “Something that Happened” five hundred years ago. Society is now color vision-segregated, professions, marriages, and leisure activities all dictated by an individual’s visual ability, and everything run by the shadowy National Color in far-off Emerald City. Out on the fringes of Red Sector West, twenty-year-old Eddie Russett is being bullied into an arranged marriage with the powerful DeMauve family, purples who hope to redden up their progeny’s color-viewing potential with Eddie’s gene stock. Their obnoxious daughter Violet is confident the marriage won’t hamper her style for too long because Eddie is about to go on trial for a murder he didn’t commit, and he’s pretty sure to be sent on a one-way trip to the Green Room for execution by soporific color exposure. Meanwhile, Eddie is engaged in an illegal relationship with his co-defendant, a Green, the charismatic, unpredictable, and occasionally deadly Jane Grey. Time is running out for Eddie and Jane to figure out how to save themselves. Negotiating the narrow boundaries of the Rules within their society, they search for a loophole—some truth of their world that has been hidden from its hyper-policed citizens. New York Times bestselling author Jasper Fforde returns to his fan-favorite Shades of Grey series with this wildly anticipated, laugh-out-loud funny and darkly satiric adventure about two star-crossed lovers on a quest to survive—even if it means upending their entire society in the process. Jasper Fforde spent twenty years in the film business before debuting on the New York Times bestseller list with The Eyre Affair in […]

Alison B. Hart presents APRIL MAY JUNE JULY, with Julia Ridley Smith at Flyleaf Books
Black Cake meets The Most Fun We Ever Had in this triumphant family story and sharply observed exploration of privilege, identity, and love in all its forms, following four estranged siblings—April, May, June, and July—whose lives collide in the lead-up to a family wedding, when new clues surface about their long-missing father. From the author of Indie Next Pick The Work Wife. April, May, June, and July Barber don’t have much in common anymore. An upcoming family wedding will place the four siblings in the same room for the first time in years. But shortly before, when April spots their father who went missing while serving overseas a decade ago, their reunion becomes entirely more complicated. While the siblings’ search for the truth about their father forces them back into each other’s lives, it also intensifies their private dramas. April loves her husband, but seeks excitement outside their marriage. May had big dreams for the future, but she’s still stuck living at home. June is eager to marry her girlfriend, so why does she need a drink at every wedding-related event? And then there’s baby brother July, whose unrequited love for his straight roommate has him more confused than ever. Confronting the past together, April, May, June, and July will find not only answers about their father, but new romance, hope, and understanding as they learn to embrace the beauty of their shared history. Alison B. Hart is the author of The Work Wife. Her writing has appeared in The Cut, Joyland Magazine, Literary Hub, and The Missouri Review, among others. She is the co-founder of the long-running reading series at Pete's Candy Store and received her MFA from The New School. Raised in Los Angeles, she now lives in North Carolina with her family. Karen Booth presents SWAP AND SMELL THE ROSES, with Reese Ryan at Flyleaf Books
Karen Booth presents SWAP AND SMELL THE ROSES, with Reese Ryan at Flyleaf Books
In this deliciously tender, steamy romance, a burned-out musician swaps city life for cottage country only to find that slowing down means a racing heart, thanks to the grumpy guy next door… When Willow Moore’s lifelong dream of music stardom goes bust, she’s burned out enough to need drastic change. As in, she’s trading her Brooklyn apartment for two months in the Connecticut countryside. Soon she’s baking bread, spending Saturdays at the farmer’s market, and stopping to smell the roses, but some things in her new #cottagecore life aren’t so pleasant. Like her landlord, former chef Reid Harrell. As grouchy and reserved as Willow is chatting and outgoing, Reid is an annoyingly sexy “keep out” sign. If only Willow was good at staying away. Something about Reid, a sliver of pain poking through that flinty façade, makes her wonder if they’re more alike than she thought. Reid once chased success too, and found it—at a price. Now all he wants is to be left alone to garden, but Willow's not giving up so quick, especially when one of their heated arguments sparks an idea for a song. Her renewed creativity awakens them both, hurling them into a passionate vortex neither expects. As the summer winds down, Willow is forced to confront her needs, wants, and desires, not to mention Reid, the hardest puzzle of all to figure out. Maybe it’s time for the city girl to stop dwelling on dreams dashed and start following her heart—no matter where it might take her… Karen Booth is a Midwestern girl transplanted to the South, raised on ’80s music and way too many readings of Forever… by Judy Blume. Married to her real-life Jake Ryan, she has two amazing kids with epic hair, a very bratty cat and loves getting up before dawn […]
